Woman gives birth to triplets as 12th delivery

A 46-year-old house-wife, Malama Alhaji-Ali, of Unguwar Namanda village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Saturday, gave birth to a set of triplets in her 12th consecutive childbirth. A report has it that the woman was delivered of the triplets at the Comprehensive Health Care Centre in Faskari. Hajia Binta Suleiman, the Nursing Officer in charge of the health centre's maternity ward said both the mother and her three baby boys were in stable condition. Suleiman said that she was delivered of the babies unassisted, adding, however, that she had been on admission in the hospital in the last four days, when officials noticed that her expected date of delivery was fast approaching. "She attended regular antenatal clinics, and she was advised to go for an ultra-scan where we noticed that she was expecting triplets,'' Suleiman said. Suleiman said that the set of triplets were the first recorded in the hospital this year and she urged the woman's husband and relations as well as the local government authorities to assist her by ensuring that she had access to nutritious foods. Meanwhile, Hajia Faskari-Ahmad, the wife of Faskari Local Government Council's caretaker committee chairman, has donated some clothes and cash to the woman and her triplet. Faskari-Ahmad congratulated her, stressing that the triplets were a rare and extraordinary blessing from Allah. Responding, the mother expressed appreciation for the gifts and the support she received from the hospital's workforce.

In tribute to Aluu 4, M.I. releases 'Ashes'

UN goodwill ambassador against smuggling of Migrants and Chocolate City rap artiste, M.I. has released a song tribute to the recent massacre of Chidi, Lloyd, Tekena and Ugonna, the four undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) tagged criminals by the people of Aluu in Rivers state. The song entitled 'Ashes' speaks on the jungle justice issue faced in the nation as well as other surrounding issues. According to M.I, "4 young men died at the hands of a lynch mob on the 5th of October 2012. Whether or not their deaths will mean anything, or fade out of our minds as just another meaningless tragedy, is up to us and what we do from here on. I hope this song captures that message. Nothing would be worse than for a death to mean nothing." The words to Ashes said: "When we’re all ashes, if I die alone Let it be more than dying alone the reason I’m gone Feels like I stood there watching the pain the brutal torture And added my silence to the violent screams of: Burn and torch ‘em How do you earn misfortune? Or does it come unbidden? If life’s a painted portrait, who puts dark colors in them? If there’s a God in heaven, surely he’s weeping now As all the blood is shedding as all His people drown God help us all" Ashes is written and produced by M.I.

9 Steps to Better Communication

Alright, so say you’re not a hugger or a kisser. Say you have germ phobias. I think this article from John Grohol can help: “9 Steps to Better Communication Today.” To get to the original post, click here. The most popular myth about communication in relationships is that since you talk to your partner, you’re automatically communicating. While talking to your partner is indeed a form of communication, if it’s primarily about everyday, “surfacey” topics (“How were the kids?” “How was work?” “How’s your mother?”), you’re not really communicating about the important stuff. This article is primarily about how to talk in a more open and rewarding manner with your significant other. Communication either makes or breaks most relationships. You can improve your relationship today, right now, by putting into practice some of these tips for improving the communication in your relationship. 1. Stop and listen. How many times have you heard someone say this or read this in an article about communication skills? How hard is it to actually do when you’re “in the moment?” Harder than it sounds. When we’re knee deep within a serious discussion or argument with our significant other, it’s hard to put aside our point for the moment and just listen. We’re often so afraid of not being heard, we rush to keep talking. Ironically, such behavior makes it all the more likely we won’t be heard. 2. Force yourself to hear. You’ve stopped talking for the moment, but your head is still swirling with all of the things you want to say, so you’re still not really hearing what is being said. Laugh all you want, but therapists have a technique that works very well that “forces” them to really hear what a client tells them — rephrasing what a person has just said to them (called “reflection”). This may upset a partner if you do it too much, or do it in a tone that suggests you’re mocking rather than trying to seriously listen. So use the technique sparingly, and let your partner know why you’re doing it if they ask — “Sometimes I don’t think I’m getting what you’re telling me, and doing this lets me slow my mind down a bit and really try and hear what you’re saying.” 3. Be open and honest with your partner. Some people have never been very open to others in their life. Heck, some people might not even know themselves, or know much about their own real needs and desires. But to be in a relationship is to take a step toward opening up your life and opening up yourself. Little lies turn into big lies. Hiding your emotions behind a cloak of invincibility might work for you, but won’t work for most others. Pretending everything is alright isn’t alright. And giving your partner the silent treatment is about as useful as a fish with a bicycle. In the desert. At night. These things may have “worked” for you in the past, but they are all barriers to good communication. Being open means talking about things you may have never talked about with another human being before in your life. It means being vulnerable and honest with your partner, completely and unabashedly. It means opening yourself up to possible hurt and disappointment. But it also means opening yourself up to the full potential of all a relationship can be. 4. Pay attention to nonverbal signals. Most of our communication with one another in any friendship or relationship isn’t what we say, but how we say it. Nonverbal communication is your body language, the tone of your voice, its inflection, eye contact, and how far away you are when you talk to someone else. Learning to communicate better means that you need to learn how to read these signals as well as hear what the other person is saying. Reading your partner’s nonverbal signals takes time and patience, but the more you do it, the more attuned you will be to what they’re really saying, such as: * Folded arms in front of a person may mean they’re feeling defensive or closed off. * Lack of eye contact may mean they’re not really interested in what you’re saying, are ashamed of something, or find it difficult to talk about something. * Louder, more aggressive tone may mean the person is escalating the discussion and is becoming very emotionally involved. It might also suggest they feel like they’re not being heard or understood. * Someone who’s turned away from you when talking to you may mean disinterest or being closed off. All the while you’re reading your partner’s nonverbal signals, be aware of your own. Make and maintain eye contact, keep a neutral body stance and tone to your voice, and sit next to the person when you’re talking to them. 5. Stay focused in the here and now. Sometimes discussions turn into arguments, that can then morph into a discussion about everything and the kitchen sink. To be respectful of one another and the relationship, you should try and keep the discussion (or argument) focused to the topic at hand. While it’s easy to get in the cheap shots or bring up everything that an argument seems to call for, just don’t. If the argument is ostensibly about who’s making dinner tonight, keep it that topic. Don’t veer off down the country road of who does what in the house, who’s responsible for child rearing, and by the way, who cleans the kitchen sink. Arguments that do veer off tend to escalate and grow larger and larger. One party needs to make an effort at that point to try and de-escalate the argument, even if it means walking away from it, literally. But do so as respectfully as possible, saying something like, “Look, I can see this isn’t going to get any better by discussing it tonight. Let’s sleep on it and try talking about it with fresh eyes in the morning, okay?” 6. Try to minimize emotion when talking about important, big decisions. Nobody can talk about important, big matters if they feel emotionally vulnerable or charged-up and angry. Those are not the times to talk about the serious issues (like money, getting married, the kids, or retirement). You might think it impossible, nonsensical or even contradictory to talk about an emotional topic like getting married or having children without emotion. And yet, these discussions need to keep a foothold of rationality to them in order to not gloss over the realities that they bring. Marriage, for instance, brings the combining of households and living with another person day-to-day. Having kids isn’t just about cute toddler clothes and painting the nursery, but talking about who’s going to change diapers, feed the newborn, and be available at all hours of the day and night for months on end. 7. Be ready to cede an argument. How many times do we continue to argue or have a heated discussion because we simply want to be “right.” I’ve talked about this sense of needing to “win” arguments more than once. Why? Because so many of couples’ arguments revolve around one party thinking they’re “right” and the other party not willing to cede the point or back off. In fact, though, both parties need to back off. By doing this, are you giving up a piece of yourself by compromising and not insisting on how right you are? Well, that’s something only you can decide. Would you rather be in a happy relationship where you respect the other person, even if you may occasionally disagree with them? Or would you rather be in an unhappy relationship where you know you’re always right, no matter what? It just comes down to your priorities — if being “right” is more important to you than your partner’s happiness, then perhaps you have not found the right partner. 8. Humor and playfulness usually help. You don’t have to be funny in order to use humor and playfulness in everyday conversations. You just need to use the sense of humor you do have and try and inject it into more of your communications with your partner. Humor helps lighten everyday frustrations and helps puts things into perspective more gently than other methods. Playfulness reminds us that even as adults, we all have a side to us that enjoys fun and taking a break from the seriousness of work and other demands made on us. 9. Communicating is more than just talking. To communicate better and more effectively in your relationship, you don’t only have to talk. You can communicate in other ways — through your actions, and nowadays, electronically too (through email, Facebook, blogs, texting or Twitter). All too often, couples focus only on the talking aspect of their relationship, but your actions also speak loudly. Keeping in touch throughout the day or week through email or other electronic means also reminds the person you’re thinking about them and how important they are in your life. Even if such communications are mainly playful or inconsequential, they can help lighten your partner’s day and improve their mood. Some couples also find that using email or another method is easier to discuss emotional issues rather than trying to do so face-to-face. It’s something to consider if every time you try and bring up a particular topic with your significant other, it turns into an argument or they shy away from it. Email or texting may be a way of communicating about such matters more openly and directly. UNIVERSITY CULTISTS FORCE FEMALE STUDENTS TO ACT LESBIAN FILM

The Nigerian Army in Enugu has paraded 21 Enugu State University of Science and Technology students for allegedly torturing and forcing some female students to have stuff among themselves.
The students, most of who confessed to being cultists, told journalists that they took video shots of the lésbian act because they had been offered money by some influential Nigerians.
The idea, the suspects said, was to take tapes of the scenes to their partners in Europe.
Shortly before parading the suspects on Saturday, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj. Gen. Sarkin Yaki Bello, who spoke through the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said the cultists, were arrested in their hideouts at Agbani on the outskirts of Enugu between July 8 and 12, 2011.
Bello said the patrol team of 103 Battalion moved to the ESUT following persistent gunshots at the institution on July 4 and arrested one of the masterminds of the crime, Mr Franklin Anikwe, with five rounds of ammunition.
The GOC said he had directed that a thorough investigation be carried out in order to fish out the pepetrators.
He said, “It was the preliminary investigation conducted by the division’s intelligence group that led to the arrest of the 19 other suspects. Some of the items recoverd from them are four locally made pistols, 10AA cartridges and video clips where the female students were forced to have illicit stuff with themselves during the raid.”
Also recovered were 10 mobile telephone handsets, including the one used for recording the dirty scenes.

PROVEN HABITS THAT RUINS APPEARANCE

  • Using whatever products you can find on your face

Many people lack a dedicated skin care routine, instead using whatever happens to be available to wash their faces, including bar and liquid soaps containing harsh chemicals that dry out the thin, fragile skin on your face. By switching to a cleanser that's specifically formulated for your skin type (dry, oily or combo), you'll have clearer, softer, more youthful-looking skin.
    • Excess Sun bathing

The majority of skin damage associated with aging occurs via overexposure to the sun. This fact means that skipping out on sunscreen followed by spending significant time outdoors will put you on the fast-track to leathery, wrinkled skin or worse, melanoma. To protect your skin and slow the formation of future wrinkles, avoid the sun when it's at its hottest around midday. Also, slather on sunscreen every morning in the summer and reapply often if you know you'll be outside for a prolonged period.
      • Exercising just to eat more

Taking a 20 minute stroll to get to the burger joint is not a license to down a calorific meal. If you tend to fool yourself with faulty logic in order to indulge, you'll notice the negative consequences of your denial showing up on your body in the form of fat. Any nutritionist will tell you that in the quest to stay in fighting-fit shape, a good diet is half the battle, so you're only sabotaging yourself when you make excuses in order to give in to your cravings. That said, every now and again as part of a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, you can feel free to treat yourself to a burger or other favorite junk foods -- just be realistic about how often you do it and how much physical activity you're getting.

Check back for more Do and Don't that helps improve appearance, remember the first message you send out about yourself is your appearance, Work hard at posting a correct message.

TODAYS DEVOTIONAL

This world in which we live (planet earth) is an infinitesimal part of the whole universe.
The universe is not a product of accident. There is a master mind that created the universe.
Can you imagine a dress without a tailor/ seamstress?
Can you imagine an unbranded car just appearing without a car manufacturing company?
Can you imagine any form of design of any matter that was not first conceived in someone's mind before coming to reality?
Therefore, there has to be a master mind that conceived these things before their eventual reality.
That master master mind is in God (2) .
That is why nothing happens by accident. God sustains all things by the same force by which they were created (3,4).
For anything to go wrong there must have been a process, a cascade of events (known or unknown) which lead to the accident (5).
Can you imagine the sudden malfunction of the law of gravity? Cars will begin to float, planes will jet off into outer space, you will not be able to sit e.t.c. Someone put these laws into place to ensure law and order (6).
Therefore, you are not a product of chance (7). The events in your life are products of many factors that interplay to create them. Someone (the master mind) thought of you before you came into existence (8).
He is interested in every detail of your life. He is your source (9). If you fail to maintain a link with the master mind, the living God, you are cut off from creativity and you are like a branch plucked off the tree.
Any attempt to sustain your life by your own strength or understanding (which many of us and our governments are trying to do) will lead to failures and frustrations.
Thus, the first step to enjoy life is to accept that there is a God and to link up with him.
